About me
I began my personal yoga journey at the age of 16 after moving to Canada from my native Tasmania. I discovered an old yoga book on my parents' bookshelf and started experimenting with the postures, finding what worked for me. Without searching for it, I found my true inner self. Too often, people think there's only one 'correct' way to do something, but that's not always the case. With yoga as with life, having flexibility in your attitude can be at least as important as having it in the physical sense.
I earned a medical certification in yoga instruction following two years of training from the Center for Naturopathy at the Zentrum fur Naturheilkunde (ZfN) in Munich. My teacher training was based on Satyananda Yoga, which was important for the physiological principles that would be so vital in working with students overcoming injuries or other physical and mental challenges. Since then, I have incorporated several other types, including Hatha Yoga, but each lesson is new and guided by the needs of each person I meet. My teaching is built at least as much on my experiences of the past 25 years as my structured training.
My days are typically filled with yoga - both teaching and personal practice - as well as hiking, gardening, playing the harp and painting.
